General

  1. What can we find in the Great World of Technology?

The Great World of Technology offers visitors hundreds of entertaining attractions in four permanent themed exhibitions that amuse and educate in various areas of life, natural and technical sciences. You can look forward to the Children's World for the youngest children aged 2 to 6 years, the World of Science and Discoveries, the World of Civilisation, and the World of Nature with an outdoor geological-botanical garden, the Theatre of Science, a 3D cinema, as well as modern classrooms and laboratories for unconventional teaching of interesting subjects, such as robotics, space, or the solar system. The Children's World is a separate, extra-charge exhibition and is not included in the admission to the Great World of Technology.

  2. Where is the Little World of Technology U6? Why U6?

Let's take a broad view. The Technology World project encompasses two buildings, two siblings standing by each other. In the Big World of Technology (the new building with a glass front wall), you will find four permanent exhibitions (Children's World, World of Science and Discovery, World of Civilization, and World of Nature), a cinema, and the Theatre of Science. Right across from it, you will find the Little World of Technology U6 in the historic brick building of the former VI. Energy Centre. It is an interactive exhibition guided by Jules Verne, introducing you to technological advancements from the steam engine to modern motors. You will also experience the original nine-hundred-ton blowers, around which you will find about a hundred playful exhibits. The Little World of Technology is smaller in area compared to its larger sibling, which is why it has the nickname "little". However, it entertains all age groups.

  3. How much time should I allocate for a visit to the World of Technology?

For a visit to the Little World of Technology, allocate at least 2 hours. A visit to the Big World of Technology will take you on average 4 - 5 hours. However, if you are not pressed for time, feel free to spend the whole day with us.

  4. Is it open during public holidays and school holidays?

Yes, we are here for you 7 days a week, including public holidays and school holidays (except for Malý svět techniky U6, which is closed on Mondays outside of school holidays). We look forward to your visit!

  5. Are the buildings of the World of Technology accessible?

The entire building of the Great World of Technology is fully accessible. The building of the Small World of Technology U6 is partially accessible.

  6. Is it possible to get refreshments here? How?

No one needs to worry about going hungry here. In the Great World of Technology, you will find the Maleda café and in U6 the L'Osteria restaurant.

  7. Suburban camps in the World of Technology? YES!!!

For children aged 6 to 14, we have prepared an exciting program packed with science! Kids will become spies, astronauts, build their own robots, create in our workshops, and become little chemists. They definitely won't be bored for a moment! Spaces fill up quickly, so don't hesitate!

  8. Birthday party in the World of Technology?

We will organise a world-class birthday party for your children! We will provide everything you need for a proper celebration!

  9. What is happening at the Science Theatre?

The Science Theatre is a space for science shows, workshops, and entertaining presentations. We have a programme for you every day - most often you can watch an entertaining Science Show called Let 's Go Science here. The Science Show is suitable for all visitors aged 0 to 99 years.

  10. Why is the Children's World intended for children up to 6 years old?

The Children's World is designed and tailored for the youngest preschool children aged 2 to 6 years, to develop their fine motor skills in a playful way and teach them to recognize the things around us. The exhibits are specially adapted for them, both in terms of weight limits and educational aspects. Older children will not gain significant knowledge from the exhibition (it is really just a play area for them) and it is primarily not intended for them, which is why their activities often cause damage, and moreover, the younger ones, for whom the exhibition is intended, cannot even reach the exhibits. We recommend that school-aged children up to ten years visit the Little World of Technology U6, and for those over 10 years, it is advisable to visit not only the interactive exhibition U6 but also other parts of the Great World of Technology.

  11. Why can't children enter the Children's World without supervision?

The Children's World is an interactive part of the exhibition where we teach children aged 2 to 6 to understand the world of adults. Who better than parents can explain to their children how things work at the doctor's, how food is cooked, or how a car service operates? The World of Technology does not want to and cannot replace parental upbringing. The Children's World is an environment and space for discovery where the whole family can play together. Our animators will be happy to assist you in the exhibition if you have any doubts about how to handle the individual exhibits.
