Record-breaking Hogwarts made from a million bricks heads to the Great World of Technology

The star of the exhibition is the model of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from the Harry Potter film series. It measures 5.5 × 4 metres, is 2.6 metres tall, and weighs a whole ton. It was built by Marek Mencl, the winner of the Czech-Slovak television show LEGO Masters in 2022. He spent about 3,000 hours on it, which corresponds to 375 working days. The model, like all others at the exhibition, is not glued together. It is held together only by the connections between the bricks.

Four worlds and two million bricks

The exhibition is divided into four worlds: magical, architectural, automotive, and western. The models are built from approximately two million LEGO® bricks. From the world of architecture, you will see the National Library of Jan Kaplický, nicknamed the Octopus. Its model has no straight lines or right angles. There is also the Tugendhat villa from Brno and the Dancing House in Prague. A large model of a coal mine inspired by the Anselm mine at Landek will remind you of Ostrava. Many models can be animated by visitors, and there is also a gallery of photographs as part of the exhibition.

Photo spots

The most photos will probably be taken at the Čezeta ČZ 175/502 De Luxe scooter, nicknamed "the pig". It is built to actual size, and you can turn on the lights and play the sound of the engine. Other photo spots can be found at the mosaic with miners, on the "flying" broomstick, or in the saddle of a large horse in the Wild West.

Minecraft: Mine and Create

A separate exhibition translates four worlds from the famous game into bricks: Overworld, The Nether, and The End. At the large building table, you can create your own piece of the Minecraft world. Everyone can build In the building workshop "Red: In the Depths of the Heart", everyone can build a frame from red bricks and insert their own drawing into it. The frames then form a collective wall that grows with each contribution. You can also build in the corners "Magical Teaching" and "Become an Architect". There is a pool full of large bricks waiting for the youngest children.

Passport to the World of Bricks

Every child receives a Czech-Polish passport and plays the game "Become One of Us". On the Hogwarts model, they search for ten lost golden snitches and on the Čezeta, three hidden piggy banks and the secret of the license plate. The passport also includes a quiz about Hogwarts houses, a riddle in runic script, and a crossword puzzle with the motto of the LEGO company. For five collected stamps, the child receives a sticker at the "customs" at the end of the tour and can take the passport home.
