For us Ostravans, it may not seem like much, but when someone from another part of the Czech Republic or abroad visits us, they are amazed... “When I go to work, I often say to myself, God, history walked this way! How could someone have envisioned, built, brought to life, managed this? And they say the pavement even shook when the 'lungs' in the power plant were running... Tens of thousands of employees, along with the accompanying infrastructure, connecting further into the city… This is absolutely the best!!!,” says Renata Červená, the area director. Of course, we know how it all went, what happened where and who probably did what, but still… It is no wonder that about one and a half million visitors arrive in Dolní Vítkovice each year! Modern Symbol Bolt Tower with Bolt Café Bolt Tower is one of the most prominent symbols of Ostrava. And this May, it will celebrate its 10th anniversary! We will soon announce the reservation times for special tours (on 24th May 2025) and the celebration program for this anniversary. Bolt Tower is an extension on the most important "lady" of Vítkovice. Blast Furnace No. 1 has a symbolic hat made of glass and steel. The transformation was designed by architect Josef Pleskot. Let’s recap what you can choose from, what you can learn more about. We have guides who have worked in Vítkovice and enthusiasts who have studied and listened. And they are happy to share! They all have the area in their hearts.
