The aim of the Dolní Vítkovice activity was to continue intensive cooperation with educators at all levels of schools and to extend this cooperation to students of pedagogical fields at secondary and higher education institutions. Unique educational activities were prepared to inspire educators to visit the World of Technology, with suitable parts and teaching methods being used in regular teaching at schools. This led to greater interconnectedness among schools and also to their connection with the science centre as an institution of informal education. Examples of good practice were shared, innovations in technology were exchanged, and experiences with effective teaching of natural science and technical subjects were discussed. Interest in technical and natural science fields increased.
PROJECT OKAP II – completed project
– professional, career, and polytechnic education in MSK II, reg. no. CZ.02.3.68/0.0/0.0/19_078/0019613 funded by the European Social Fund through the Operational Programme Research, Development and Education, allowed educators from the Moravian-Silesian Region to visit educational activities as inspiration, bringing their students to educational programmes free of charge, including transportation.
Participation in educational activities at the World of Technology also included attending regular online seminars (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1NxQEXDFUhEO6Iri95rLK1aSiqvTsmr-5) for teachers and the opportunity to view inspiring videos HERE (https://www.youtube.com/user/expoziceu6/playlists).
How we implemented the project:
1. The teacher selected the educational module they wanted to complete with their class.
In the case of a larger number of students (the capacity of the laboratory is 16 students, workshops 9, and others max. 25), they were divided into groups corresponding to the capacity of classrooms and laboratories.
As part of the project, free transportation was available from your side. All communication, coordination of the bus, schedule, and educational programme was thoroughly coordinated.
Therefore, it was necessary to arrange everything with the module coordinator, and automatic reservations through the booking system were not possible.
Description of the OKAP II project
2. The module coordinator from the World of Technology verified the possibilities and approved the requests.
Then, they ordered transportation for the specified groups of students for the requested dates and informed the teacher about the approval of the event and its details.
3. The teacher arrived with their students at the World of Technology.
They attended the selected educational module knowing that their cooperation with the instructor from the World of Technology was necessary during the implementation of the educational module.
- Before the actual teaching began, there was a brief consultation between the teacher and the instructor and training for successful joint lesson management.
- After the educational module ended, there was a brief joint recap of its course, and the accompanying teacher filled out a short evaluation questionnaire.
4. The teacher engaged in communication through online seminars,
which we prepare as part of the project.
Their aim was to consult on a specific educational module and provide feedback.
Interesting inspiring guests were invited to these seminars, who brought additional interesting ideas, information, and suggestions useful in school teaching.
As part of the project, it was possible to participate in an event called "Living Library of Study Opportunities and Professions". During this event, students could meet various professions, especially those that are promising in our region and are in high demand.
Individual professions were represented by people who actually perform them.
How did it go?
In the exhibition spaces of the World of Technology, booths of schools and companies are set up. In the booths, students saw presentations of the relevant professions that companies need.
The Living Library of Professions, Study Opportunities, and Crafts was held a total of 5 times, always at the beginning of the school semester.

Little Craftsman
Little Craftsman in kindergartens
This was an outreach activity to kindergartens as part of the OKAP II project.
It was a course consisting of five lessons, during which children, under the guidance of experienced instructors from the World of Technology, made their own wooden products.
As a reward after each lesson, they received a handmade toy, and at the end of the course, they received a Little Craftsman Diploma from the World of Technology.
Are you interested in this project and would like to implement it in your kindergarten?
We still allow the implementation of this programme outside of the OKAP II project.
Lessons take place in suitable spaces of kindergartens, where specially made children's workshop tables with a vice are delivered.
For each of the 5 lessons (usually on a set day of the week – for 5 weeks), instructors from the World of Technology travel to the children directly in the kindergarten.

Project Days
Description of the project days that we implemented as part of the OKAP II project.
Hydrogen – the phenomenon of the future (9th grade, 1st – 4th year of secondary school)
Only one element has so many "mosts" – it is the most abundant in the universe and is also the simplest. It is one of the basic building blocks of living organisms and contains a large amount of energy that we can safely use. During a half-day research day, students will learn to produce hydrogen using electrolysis in the laboratory and then use it as a source of electricity. They will learn about safe storage methods. They will also see our hydrogen car that cleans the air and emits only drinking water.
The future is not in the stars, but in hydrogen!
Focus:
Target group: 9th grade, 1st – 4th year of secondary school
Duration of the programme: 180 minutes
Capacity: maximum of 32 students divided into two groups
MOYTOY Construction Set
The educational module focuses primarily on working with the original and unique MoyToy construction set.
From this construction set, children will assemble simple and gradually more complex toys, from which they will then create a city. In the created city, they can play with the toys they made. In addition to manual dexterity and skills to assemble according to a plan, they will also refresh their basic knowledge of traffic signs and road rules.
Target group: Kindergarten
Duration of the programme: 09:00 – 12:00
Capacity: max. 20 students
Where did the book come from?
Books have long been valuable items. But what did their production look like in past centuries? Come and delve into the secrets of medieval calligraphy, typesetting text using metal letters, and even making your own original book!
Target group: Primary school from 12 years
Move the World
The aim of the programme is to create your own short animated film. Students will be introduced to the Stop motion animation technique and its processing in the IMovie application.
We will show various tricks on how to prepare quality content, edit animation, and create your own characters and scene.
Target group: Primary school 4th – 8th grade
Birdhouses for the Zoo
Dear educators,
We announce a special event for school groups to make birdhouses in our workshops.
We want to help the Ostrava Zoo increase nesting opportunities for birds living freely in its area. The Ostrava Zoo needs a large supply of birdhouses!
We therefore invite schools to send 18-member groups of 8th and 9th-grade students to participate in the production of birdhouses according to the Zoo's requirements.
We anticipate that during 3 hours in the workshops, students will produce a total of 9 birdhouses.
The event is carried out in cooperation with Stora Enzo, which provided the necessary wood. Thank you!!!
Videos
The project also includes the creation of short inspirational and methodological videos for individual educational modules, or commented parts of selected exhibits or parts of the exhibitions of the Little World of Technology U6 and the Big World of Technology. All videos can be found on our YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNnfapQLYFUmt5CSLaWkG3doFpRYA2RD4), where they are gradually added and thematically sorted.

The main intention behind the creation of this exhibition was to develop visual literacy, that is, the ability to understand visual material (photos). Thus, the exhibition ZOOM was created, which aims to develop critical thinking, lead individuals to reflect on possible manipulation, and demonstrate through simple examples how fake news can arise. A key element of the exhibition is photos with ambiguous messages, and their real stories often surprise. At the same time, the exhibition is complemented by interactive exhibits that further help convey the message in an entertaining way. The exhibition was created with the support and idea of the Embassy of the USA in Prague, in collaboration with the educational centre TEREZA in Prague.

The landing on the Moon was a significant milestone for all humanity. In collaboration with the US Embassy in Prague, we have therefore expanded our oasis of space with a section dedicated to this important event and the entire Apollo 11 mission. The Man on the Moon exhibition allowed us to bring to the Czech Republic an exact replica of Neil Armstrong's spacesuit. It was made using 3D printing in 15 copies to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission launch, and one of the copies was sent on a journey across Europe, appearing here as well. Awareness of this crucial milestone was also complemented by several other supporting exhibits, which continue to serve as an extension of the exhibition after the spacesuit's return to the United States.
