Science Night at the Great World of Technology Attracted 500 Visitors
On Friday, 25 September, we experimented with everything that can convey a message during Science Night. This year's theme was Communication. Throughout the event, we welcomed 500 visitors.
The chemical show demonstrated that plants communicate through scent. Teams in the escape room searched for Professor Zmizík, who got lost in his own codes. In the Science Theatre, an alchemist faced off against a scientist. At other stations, visitors made paper button mobiles, deciphered messages with robots, played board games about cooperation, and discovered how many languages they actually know.
We thank all the visitors and everyone who contributed to the organization!
What is Science Night
Science Night is a nationwide event where scientific institutions, universities, and science centres open their doors to the public. Until the end of 2025, it was known as Researchers' Night for twenty years. Since 2024, it has been coordinated at the national level by the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague and Palacký University in Olomouc. The 2026 edition was themed Communication.
The Great World of Technology in Dolní Vítkovice is a science centre that opened in 2014. It offers four permanent exhibitions – Children's World, World of Civilisation, World of Science and Discoveries, and World of Nature – as well as a laboratory, workshops, a 3D cinema, and Science Theatre, where an alchemist faced off against a scientist during Science Night.
