The Senior Academy also took a look at drug production at TEVA Czech Industries
Participants of the Senior Academy have had another interesting stop. After the introductory meeting, science show, and lecture on useful insects, they visited the academy's partner, TEVA Czech Industries.
The academics got a glimpse behind the scenes of pharmaceutical production. They learned what and how the company produces, what strict conditions medicines must meet before they reach the market, and they became familiar with the company's portfolio from generic drugs to sprays and cytostatics.
In the laboratories
The biggest experience awaited in the laboratories, where seniors tried testing pills and filling tablets into blisters, their packaging and labeling. The program concluded with a fun chemistry quiz, which confirmed that curiosity and a sharp mind do not diminish with age.
Thanks go to the education specialist Petra Březovská for the great atmosphere and for how she managed to inspire our academics.
The Senior Academy continues until December!
TEVA Czech Industries operates a plant in Opava, which was formerly named Galena and has been part of the international Teva group since 2006. It produces generic drugs and active pharmaceutical ingredients and is one of the largest manufacturers of medicines in Central Europe.
The Senior Academy is a program of the Great World of Technology in Dolní Vítkovice. It was opened in September 2014 and offers hundreds of interactive exhibits in four permanent exhibitions, a Science Theatre with a science show, as well as modern classrooms and laboratories.
