To Work by Bike 2026: Get Involved and Enjoy the Worlds of Technology and Bolt Tower

Dolní Vítkovice participated in the May challenge To Work by Bike. For its participants, they prepared entry to the exhibitions of the World of Technology and special trips to the Bolt Tower viewpoint.

What is it about and how to join?

To Work by Bike is a nationwide May challenge for everyone who wants to swap their car for a bike, scooter, or walking. Just register on the website dopracenakole.cz, receive a participant t-shirt, and regularly record your emission-free journeys to work in a team or solo. It's about a healthy lifestyle, a cleaner city, and shared fun.

Where to collect rewards?

As participants of the challenge, you can visit the exhibitions of the World of Technology and the Little World of Technology U6 throughout May 2026. You will find interactive fun and experiments there, which are the perfect reward after an actively spent day.

The Little World of Technology U6 is located in the building of the VI. Energy Central from 1938, where the original giant blowers still stand. Its exhibition connects the works and visions of Jules Verne.

When to head to Bolt Tower?

The iconic viewpoint Bolt Tower offers participants special trips, from where you can see the whole of Ostrava laid out before you. This year's dates are set for 4th and 5th May, then on 14th May, and the last chance will be on 20th May. As the capacity of the tower is limited, we recommend reserving your spot well in advance.

Bolt Tower is an extension at the top of Blast Furnace No. 1, designed by architect Josef Pleskot and completed in 2015. From the glass cylinder with a café and the terrace, you can see as far as the Beskydy mountains in good visibility.

Practical Summary

The challenge runs from 1st to 31st May 2026. Registration and all details can be found at dopracenakole.cz. Do something for your fitness and mood in May and enjoy the best of Ostrava's technology and views.
