Exhibition – Malý Svět Techniky U6

Journey to the Centre of the Earth

In the introduction of the section, visitors are introduced to the time when humans had to rely on the unpredictable forces of nature – water, wind, animals, and also their own strength. To free themselves from this dependence, humans had to come up with some universal auxiliary tool, which was the steam engine. Therefore, the section shows the development from initial manual labour to the invention of the steam engine and its use in industry. The whole is concluded with a part on engineering featuring an interactive workshop where visitors can try turning or milling.

Exhibits:

  • Human-powered crane
  • Steam engine mechanisms
  • Machining workshop
  • ..and more

Secrets of the Steel City

The following part of the exhibition presents the industrial history of the Moravian-Silesian Region. It introduces the raw materials for the smelting process, the actual process of producing pig iron in blast furnaces, its transformation into steel in various steelworks, and the history of steelmaking.

Exhibits:

  • Control room + history of metallurgy
  • Metal workshops
  • Hammer
  • ..and more

Around the World in 80 Days

Transportation related to coal mining and steel production is inseparably linked. In this regard, the ambition of the exhibition is to show a broader spectrum of possible means of transport, i.e. on land, in water, and also in the air.

Exhibits:

  • Pneumatic post
  • Coffee grinder
  • Train track
  • ..and more

Robur the Conqueror

The entire exhibition aims to popularize the field of energy in general; however, greater attention will be paid to the topic of electricity, its properties, production possibilities, and applications. The exhibition aims to present and popularize various methods of electricity production: nuclear energy, hydrogen technologies, and other alternatively generated sources of electrical energy, without which contemporary society undoubtedly cannot do without.

Exhibits:

  • Frequency tunnel
  • Hydrogen
  • The path of electric energy
  • ..and more

The Lord of the World

The fifth part of the exhibition focuses primarily on the combustion fuel in internal combustion engines, which are somewhat similar to steam engines, whose specific differences dictate variations in engine construction. Visitors observe the historical journey of internal combustion engines from their use as stationary engines in factories and workshops to their transition into vehicles. In this part of the exhibition, they can see everything that is hidden under the hood of an engine and then experience driving simulations of various types of vehicles from motorcycles to tractors and personal or freight cars.

Exhibits:

  • Car simulator AT-208 and AT-217
  • Platform above the blowers
  • Submarine
  • ..and more

From the Earth to the Moon

The following part continues from the previous one, as the further development of internal combustion engines determined their wider use. Increasing power and decreasing weight of the engine allowed for their placement in winged machines. With the increasing power of the engine, the speed of aircraft also increased, which soon became another means of transport. Continuous development and the involvement of scientific institutions in aviation ultimately led to the emergence of highly specialized technology and the development of astronautics. Therefore, here visitors will be surprised not only by the largest exhibit of the exhibition – the submarine Nautilus, but also by the astronaut's landing cockpit and the flight simulator.

Exhibits:

  • Flight simulator
  • Astronautics
  • Engine Mig 21
  • ..and more
