Chef’s table at FUTUREUM

A single table. Fourteen guests. One evening. The former mill, where coal once fuelled the fire, will transform for one evening into a place where fire brings people together at one table. An authorial tasting menu prepared right in front of the guests. An industrial space. An open fire. Music. Stories.

The evening takes place on Tuesday, 20th October 2026. It is organised by the project Food as Art by chef Jan Nedomy. As there is only one table and fourteen places, capacity is very limited.

The Former Mill

The mill and the adjacent tippler were part of the operations that connected the Hlubina Mine, the coking plant, and the blast furnaces. Coal wagons were tipped in the tippler, and the coal was processed in the mill. The oldest part of the mill dates back to before 1949, the tippler was put into operation at the end of 1952, and both buildings underwent major reconstruction in 1964. Operations ceased here in 1997.

After years of neglect, the buildings were restored between 2020 and 2022 according to the design of architect Milan Šraml. Today, they house FUTUREUM, which connects industrial history with art, technology, and a view into the future across three floors. In addition to exhibitions, it offers tours, lectures, workshops, and other accompanying programs. You can find FUTUREUM at Vítkovice 3044, in the area of the national cultural monument Dolní oblast Vítkovice, where iron production ceased in 1998.
