Ten Years of the World of Technology

The Great World of Technology in Dolní Vítkovice opened on 26th September 2014, so it celebrated ten years in autumn 2024. The birthday celebrations were accompanied by the opening of a new temporary exhibition, Imaginarium. The Saturday party on 5th October was the culmination of the entire celebration week. A tour of the entire exhibition takes an average of 4 to 5 hours, so you could reserve the whole day for the celebration.

The popular science centre was designed by architect Josef Pleskot. Behind the mirror façade, approximately 125 meters long, which reflects the panorama of the former ironworks, are four permanent interactive exhibitions: Children's World, World of Science and Discoveries, World of Civilisation, and World of Nature. Hundreds of fun and educational exhibits allow both children and adults to experience science and technology. The centre also includes a cinema, the Science Theatre with a science show, classrooms, laboratories, and workshops for schools, as well as a rooftop garden covering 2,000 m². The World of Technology also includes the Small World of Technology U6, located in the historic building of the former energy central, which has been open since 2012.
