Professional competitions for firefighters from around the world – Firefit Ostrava 2025. Under the auspices of the Mayor of the City of Ostrava, the Governor of the Moravian-Silesian Region, and the Fire Rescue Service of the Moravian-Silesian Region. Firefit is a competition – a defined sport and physical test for firefighters in the USA and Canada. It assesses firefighters in the basic activities they perform during interventions they are dispatched to. The competition consists of running up a three-storey tower with weights, hoisting weights on a rope, descending the tower, striking weights with a 4 kg hammer for about 1m, followed by a slalom over 35m, dragging a charged hose, and knocking down a target with a water jet, lifting a dummy weighing 80 kg, and dragging it backwards to the finish line over a distance of 35 m. The entire event will feature a supporting program, showcasing firefighting equipment, a children's program with a Firefit children's race, etc. Example video from the USA
