We invite you to a guided tour dedicated to the life and work of Helena Salichová. This artist and ethnographer devoted her work primarily to Silesia and its traditions. The tour will focus especially on the exhibited cycle Shapes Hidden in Wood, which Helena Salichová created from 1961 until nearly the end of her life and is among the most surprising aspects of her work. The author enters the realm of abstraction here, where structure, rhythm of line, and the organic shape of wood play a key role. Salichová does not perceive wood as a carrier but as an active co-author of her works, allowing its drawing, knots, pores to emerge, and revealing stories hidden in the wood through small interventions with a chisel or knife.
The exhibition Shapes Hidden in Wood will be guided by experts on Helena Salichová's work from the Chagall Art Centre, Helena Schmuckerová and Petr Pavliňák. Immerse yourself in the work of an artist who loved Silesia, its landscape, people, and traditions.
