At the Gong Gallery, we are preparing a new exhibition Light – A Tribute to Milan Dobeš. The opening will take place on Thursday, 8 October 2026 at 17:00, and the exhibition will be open from 9 October to 6 December 2026.

In the first part of the exhibition, we will commemorate the work of Milan Dobeš, one year after his passing in October. Milan Dobeš was one of the leading figures in global op-art, kinetic art, and European constructivism. In his work, he created a distinctive visual language based on the relationship between light, movement, geometry, and space. Using reduced means, repeating structures, and basic elements, he explored the principles of vision, rhythm, and the optical transformation of the image. His works transcend the boundaries of classical painting and become a changing system that varies with the viewer's perspective, distance, and movement. The curator is Jan Světlík.

The second part of the exhibition presents the works of ten artists who work with light and optical illusion, in relation to the experimental work of Milan Dobeš in the collection of Jan Světlík. The theme of light appears in their works technically, symbolically, or conceptually across a wide range of media.

Exhibiting: Michael Delia, Eva Eisler, Daniel Hanzlík, Václav Krůček, Jan Nálevka, Míla Preslová, Jaroslav Prokeš, Martin Prokopovič, Tereza Severová, Ján Vasilko. Curator: Lenka Lindaurová
