Meat Design Ostrava was founded in 2015 out of pure enthusiasm, a passion for design, and pride in our city. As Ostrava patriots, we decided to be the first to fill the empty space on the cultural map – we set out to create a festival that would celebrate top-notch design and inspire the entire region. Without partners and large budgets, but with immense faith in the purpose of our efforts, we held the first edition and have been growing with each subsequent one. Today, Meat Design Ostrava is much more than just a presentation of designers. It is a story of courage, creativity, and determination; it is a significant cultural event and a unique opportunity to experience design firsthand in our region. Over nine years, we have welcomed more than 36,500 visitors, showcased over 800 designers, brands, and manufacturers from the Czech Republic and abroad, and proven that Ostrava can live design. At the last 9th edition, we welcomed over 6,500 visitors, presented more than 110 brands and designers, featured 5 special curated installations, showcased the work of 50 students and schools, and received personal invitations to Ostrava from 20 stars of Czech design, whose lectures and installations inspired and captivated the audience.
