SMOKIE returns to the Czech Republic!
After an exceptionally successful return to Czech stages in June 2025, the legendary British band Smokie will once again present themselves to the Czech audience. At that time, the concerts were part of the Greatest Hits World Tour 2025. Due to the great interest from fans, the agency Brnokoncert is bringing the band back to the Czech Republic. Mark your calendars for the current concert dates:
A selection of the biggest hits from this legendary glam rock band will be performed: immortal songs like Don’t Play Your Rock ’n’ Roll to Me, Living Next Door to Alice, or Oh Carol – tracks known by entire generations and still played on radios around the world.
The popularity of Smokie extends far beyond the borders of their native Britain – the Czech audience has fallen in love with their music so much that it has inspired local artists as well. Just to mention songs like Alenka v říši divů (Karel Zich), Mýdlový princ (Václav Neckář), or Prohrát není žádná hanba (Argema).
The band's roots date back to 1965 when a group of high school students from Bradford, England, led by singer Chris Norman, formed a band that performed under various names – Yen, Essence, Elizabethans, or Smokey. It wasn't until the mid-70s that the name Smokie was established, a name known worldwide today.
From small clubs, the band gradually worked their way up to become one of the biggest names in the global rock scene. A key turning point came in 1975 when producer Nicky Chin noticed them. It was then that they released their debut album, which catapulted them into charts worldwide. Singles like If You Think You Know How to Love Me or Don’t Play Your Rock ’n’ Roll to Me quickly became hits, and Smokie joined the ranks of the giants of the 70s – Pink Floyd and the Rolling Stones.
Throughout their career, they have released more than twenty studio albums, countless live recordings, and collections of greatest hits – and they certainly haven't lost their energy even after decades on stage.
