The award has been presented since 1996 to prominent individuals who have contributed to the development or good reputation of the Moravian-Silesian metropolis. Josef Pleskot received it for his extraordinary contribution to the city's development in the field of architecture. The notable architect Josef Pleskot is primarily associated with Ostrava due to the revitalization of Dolní Vítkovice, including the transformation of the former gas holder into the Multifunctional Hall Gong. This year, Gong celebrates its tenth anniversary of being open to the public in May. As part of the ceremony at the Ostrava City Hall, the architect was also recorded in the City of Ostrava's Book of Remembrance, where he wrote: “Ostrava has become the city of my professional maturity and thus it has imprinted itself in my heart.” Thank you and congratulations on the award!
