Dolní Vítkovice offers a programme for the whole family not only during the holidays. The guided tours are a major attraction! In addition to popular festivals and cultural events, you will find a diverse range of guided tours in Dolní Vítkovice. They will take you through the unique history of this industrial complex. The tours are led by experienced guides and are designed to provide visitors with not only historical and technical information but also personal stories of the people who worked in the former ironworks. One of the most popular routes is the Blast Furnace Circuit. This 100-minute experience includes a tour of the former blast furnace plant, where visitors will learn all about the history of the area and the production of pig iron. "The tour begins with an ascent to a height of 36 metres, followed by a climb to the Bolt Tower, where visitors can enjoy 30 minutes of free time with stunning views. Dolní Vítkovice also caters to foreign visitors. A free audio guide in English, German, and Polish is available for the Blast Furnace Circuit," invites Ludmila Nováková from visitor services. The relaxed Bolt Café circuit at the Bolt Tower, which includes prepaid refreshments at the café, is also popular with the public. Last year, the Coal Circuit was newly expanded into a more interesting route called KOX. The tour includes the coke battery tunnel, the machine maintenance workshop, and the control room, where coal supply for iron production in the blast furnaces was managed in the past. The tour is enhanced by augmented reality, allowing visitors to peek into the operation of the coke battery and see the work of the pushing and guiding machines. "Architecture enthusiasts will appreciate the tour Architecture of Dolní Vítkovice. It showcases the transformation of a decaying steel city into a modern educational and cultural centre. Visitors will get acquainted with both the original and revitalised parts of the complex," says Renata Červená, director of the registered association Dolní oblast Vítkovice. For the youngest, Dolní Vítkovice offers the ideal choice of the Children's World or the U6 exhibition, while older children can explore science through play in the World of Technology. During the holidays, it is open all week. The Dolní oblast Vítkovice association also manages the Landek Park Mining Museum in Ostrava-Petřkovice. The experiential programmes provide an authentic insight into the lives of miners and mining rescuers. New tours have also received attractive names such as Done in 90 Minutes or Rescue Hero. "You couldn't just get to the mining rescuers like that. The profession has been and is demanding in every respect. As part of these special programmes, you can also try crawling through a training rescue polygon," says Ján Hlobil from the Landek Park Mining Museum.
