Celebrate International Women's Day at the World of Technology: Become a Scientist and Discover the Stories of Famous Women!

Science is not just about formulas; it is an adventure that changes the world. Come and experience it for yourself as part of the celebrations for International Women's Day! We have prepared a special programme that will guide you through the footsteps of ten fascinating female scientists whose discoveries we all use today.

What to Expect?

Forget boring lectures. Here, you will create, experiment, and programme. At six stations, children (and adults) will try activities inspired by icons of world science:

Space Mission with Katherine Johnson: Make your own rocket and find out how trajectories to the stars are calculated.

The Radiant World of Marie Curie and Lise Meitner: Uncover the secrets of invisible radiation. Using UV pens and flashlights, we will bring to life colours that literally glow in the dark!

Ada Lovelace's Digital Playground: Want to know how a robot "thinks"? Programme your own animator using simple commands.

Rosalind Franklin's Laboratory: We will look at the very foundation of life. You will try a fascinating experiment – isolating DNA from an ordinary banana.

Hedy Lamarr's Technology: Did you know that we owe Wi-Fi to a famous actress? Try out our "cup phone" and understand the principles of wireless communication.

Nature of Jane Goodall and Education of Maria Montessori: We will explore ecology and playful puzzles that train a sharp mind.

Science Passport: A Challenge for Young Researchers

Upon entry, each young visitor will receive their own Science Passport. At each station, there will be a tricky question waiting for you.

Do you know what shape DNA has? Or which plant Tu Youyou studied to save millions of lives from malaria?

Just pay attention, ask our animators, and fill out the passport. As a reward, you will receive recognition from our experts and the title of Young Scientist!

Practical Information:

When: 8 March

Where: Exhibitions of the World of Technology (you will find stations in Science, on the Nature Balcony, and in the classrooms of Maria and Jan).
