Dolní Vítkovice
Description – Liběna Villa
The villa was built in 1919 by the general director of the Vítkovice Mining and Metallurgical Company, Adolf Sonnenschein, as a residence for the director of the Vítkovice Coal Mines. The architecture of the villa was designed in an elegant, historicizing neoclassical style, which aimed to fulfill the vision of representativeness with modern conveniences. The balanced composition of the side risalits, columns, and the double-armed entrance staircase gives the building stylistic purity and symmetry.
In 2010, the villa was taken over by the current Cylinders Holding a. s. and in 2021, a sensitive reconstruction of the exterior and individual apartments intended for short-term rental was undertaken just for you!
Apartments
The villa has 11 apartments for couples, four-member families, and groups of up to six people. All have a refrigerator, kettle, hob, kitchen utensils, dining table, flat-screen TV, and a well-equipped bathroom. The first apartment has a built-in safe, which according to the operator was once used to collect money for miners' wages, and now serves as a wardrobe. The director's apartment number 9 has a spacious terrace with a view of the Anselm mine's winding tower.
Landek Park
The villa is located in the Landek Park area in Ostrava-Petřkovice, a short distance from the centre of Ostrava. Within the area, you will find the Mining Museum with mining experiences and an exhibition of mining rescue, the Bistropen restaurant, tennis and padel courts, or a ropes course. The surroundings also offer walks through the natural monument Landek.
