Kulíšek Foundation

The Kulíšek Foundation for premature children was established in April 2020. It was founded by women who themselves experienced premature births and supports the Neonatology Department of the Faculty Hospital in Ostrava, which cares for premature babies, known as Kulíšky, and their families. The foundation helps families emotionally and financially and purchases expensive equipment and devices for the department that facilitate the stay of children in the hospital and care at home.

The foundation began its activities on 17 November, on World Prematurity Day, and has already raised nearly a million crowns from events and donations from sponsors. Every year, it organises social and sports events. The largest are the spring charity run and the autumn meeting of premature children at the World of Technology in the Lower Vítkovice area. In 2025, the department cared for 771 Kulíšky, of which 91 weighed less than 1,500 grams.

The Great World of Technology opened in September 2014 in the building designed by architect Josef Pleskot. It features four permanent interactive exhibitions: Children's World, World of Science and Discoveries, World of Civilisation, and World of Nature.
