The artist Ivana Štenclová is a regional artist who creates portraits, utilizing a rich spectrum of artistic means in her work. The formal expression is best served by figurative compositions, portraits, and self-portraits, with the main essence of her artistic expression being the graphic principle. Although she employs unusual artistic techniques, drawing is the foundation of her paintings – she expresses herself in lines rather than in colour fields. Thus, she creates works that lie on the border between painting, relief, and object. In addition to canvas, she uses particle board, used bed sheets, X-ray images, but recently also metal sheets as a base. Technical and decorative effects in Ivana Štenclová's approach are never self-serving – they always serve the meaning of the artwork. This meaning is often multilayered. She systematically engages in decoding repressed traumas and exposing primarily family relationships.
