Music, colours, emotions – and science! This year,
the Big Bang Stage will once again be featured during the Colours of Ostrava festival, a place where the world of science meets human curiosity. Look forward to engaging lectures, live discussions, and unexpected insights into the mysteries of the universe, chemistry, technology, and the future as you have never known it before.
The stage will host top experts in their fields. For example, Czech nuclear physicist
Dana Drábová, and populariser of astronomy
Jan Spratek and Simon Klinga – founder and leader of the student team LASAR, which won over judges from NASA in the American Conrad Challenge competition. With great humility, we will welcome Danish chemist and Nobel Prize laureate
Mortena Meldala to our science centre. He brings the story of a discovery that changed the world – the so-called click chemistry. With ease and infectious enthusiasm, he reveals how scientific revolutions can arise from pure curiosity.
You can also look forward to the popular podcast aptly titled Light Bulbs. A debate with
Kateřina Hoňková and Ondřej Kořistka will take you into the fascinating world of astronomy and nuclear physics, where the greatest mysteries of the universe intertwine with the fundamental building blocks of matter. Together, they will present key principles and the latest discoveries that are changing our view of the world around us. And you may be surprised to find that these scientific disciplines also influence our everyday lives and technological progress. The debate will be hosted by
Pavla Hubálková, a science journalist and host of the Light Bulbs programme on Czech Radio Dvojka, where young scientists are given a platform to change the world. So, get ready to shine and be inspired by the mysteries of the universe and the micro-world.
Among other guests are theoretical physicist
Samuel Kováčik, particle physicist
Martin Rybář, and radiologist
Petra Trnková. You will also be entertained by an unconventional science show: ÚDiF - Amazing Theatre of Physics or the traditionally very popular
Slam Poetry Exhibition: Science edition.
The Big Bang Stage is a place where science transforms into a story – entertaining, understandable, and fascinating. Come take a break from the music stages and experience the festival in a different way – with your head in the clouds and your thoughts among the stars.
